Padrauna assembly constituency has Maneesh Jaiswal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), taking on Mohammad Jahiruddin of the Indian National Congress (INC), Vikrama Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Pawan Kumar Upadhyay of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Ravishankar of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Swami Prasad Maurya of the BJP had won the Padrauna seat in 2017. Maurya had beaten his closest rival Javed Iqbal by over 40,552 votes. Iqbal had contested that election on a BSP ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Swami Prasad Maurya of the BSP. 

Padrauna falls under the Kushinagar district and the Kushi Nagar Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of five assembly seats.

Vijay Kumar Dubey of the BJP represented Kushi Nagar as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Dubey defeated Nathuni Prasad Kushwaha from the SP with a margin of 3,37,560 votes.

The Padrauna assembly constituency will vote in the sixth phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on March 3, 2022, along with 56 other constituencies in 10 districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 7. 

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
