Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Zydus Biotech Park in Gujarat, Ahmedabad, on Saturday to review COVID-19 vaccine development in the country, as per news agency ANI.

The Prime Minister will also visit Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad and Serum Institute of India in Pune, during the day.

The prime minister reached the plant, located in the Changodar industrial area, over 20 km from Ahmedabad.

Zydus Cadila has completed the phase-I clinical trial of its vaccine candidate ZyCoV-D and had commenced phase-II clinical trials from August.

PM Modi will fly to Hyderabad following his Ahmedabad tour where he will visit vaccine maker Bharat Biotech’s facility.

Bharat Biotech’s vaccine Covaxin currently in phase-3 trials.

Following his Hyderabad visit, PM Modi will proceed to Pune, where he will visit the Serum Institute of India. Serum Institute has partnered with global pharma giant AstraZeneca and the Oxford University for the vaccine.
