Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals made a giant leap towards their maiden Indian
Premier League (PIL) crown last year in IPL 2020 but lost the chance to Rohit Sharma‘s Mumbai Indians. Now
with a squad packed with some phenomenal cricket players, the team has
great chances of taking the prestigious trophy home for the first time.

Delhi
Capitals
, which will now be led by Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant after
Shreyas Iyer’s shoulder injury, will play their first IPL 2021 match against
Chennai Super Kings on April 10 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Here’s a look
at Capitals’ key players before the D day.

 Rishabh Pant

India’s wicket-keeper and batsman, Rishabh Pant’s performance has been nothing but remarkable in the Test series against England. His aggressive exploits with the bat made him one of the architects of India’s outstanding 2-1 win in the Test series against Australia in January.

In the words of Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal, “Rishabh Pant embodies the Delhi Capitals’ passionate and fearless brand of cricket.

Considering all the milestones he achieved lately, Rishabh Pant is DC’s valuable asset for this year’s tournament and will play a significant role in taking the team to new heights.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, being one of the most experienced players in the team will be a great value addition for a team that had already been so close to the victory.

Ashwin’s magical display with the bat in India Vs England in Chennai and his bowling skills in the Motera stadium test speak volumes of his perfect form for a tough encounter.

Ashwin’s IPL history with DC and previous squad  KXIP were no short of phenomenal when he took 25 wickets.

Prithvi Shaw

Indian skipper Prithvi Shaw‘s batting in Vijay Hazare Trophy became the highlight of the tournament after he scored 827 runs. His IPL 2020 journey has also been a promising run with the young player amassing 288 runs in 13 matches.

His excellent skipping and batting skills can prove to be a plus point for the Capitals and may help them replicate the outstanding league that they played last year.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan, a veteran batsman, who has time and again helped India achieve glorious victories in International matches, will help Delhi Capital run in majors league this year as well.

The 35-year old Capitals opener was the stand-out batsman who scored 2 centuries and 4 fifties taking the total to  618 runs in IPL 2020. It would not be surprising to see DC domination this season as well with Dhawan on their side.

Marcus Stoinis

Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis‘ partnership with Shikhar Dhawan in the last edition of IPL yielded fruitful results for the second-best team of the season. Stoinis scored 352 runs in 17 games in IPL 2020 that included three half-centuries.

Stoinis is also credited for taking 12 wickets in the last season which makes him one of the integral and best-performing players of the DC squad.
