Claiming he always knew that his hamstring injury was not serious,
Rohit Sharma recently said that he would be battle-ready for the Australia tour,
PTI reported.

In an interview with the news agency, India’s white-ball skipper let
in on his left hamstring injury that occurred during the IPL and subsequently became
subject to intense speculation across cricketing quarters. Sharma, initially
dropped out from the Australia squad, was eventually reinstated in the Test squad.

 “I don’t know what was
going on, to be honest and
what all were people talking about. But let me put this on record, I was
constantly communicating with BCCI and Mumbai Indians”, PTI quoted him as
saying.

After helping the
Mumbai Indians to power through against Delhi Capitals in the IPL finals all the
while playing through the injury, he is currently at the National Cricket
Academy in Bengaluru, training for strength and conditioning.

“Hamstring
is feeling absolutely fine. Just started the process of getting it nice and
strong. Before I play the longer format, I absolutely needed to be clear in
mind that there is no stone that is left unturned, that’s probably the reason,
I’m at the NCA”, he further explained.

The Mumbai-bred
player also touched upon his relationship with his IPL franchise, Mumbai
Indians, stressing that the team was not made overnight.

Saying that the
franchise did not believe in chopping and changing, Sharma mentioned that every
player including himself was available in the 2011 auctions and it is just that
MI believe in building a team.
