Deepika Padukone, Siddhant
Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa on Friday attended a special
screening of Shakun Batra’s upcoming film Gehraiyaan.  Siddhant’s parents
saw their son’s film before it was released and were quite impressed.

Siddhant admitted to
ETimes that he didn’t speak to his parents on the day of the screening because
he wanted the day to “simply pass.” They didn’t even get in the same
car when they got home. Even when his father came into his room to tell him how
much he enjoyed the film, the actor remained silent. They did, however, talk
about the movie over the phone.

“Yeh film samaaj
ka darpan hai (It serves as a mirror for society),” Siddhant’s father
said, giving his comprehensive view on Gehraiyaan. “Kuch sahi galat nahi
hai, ismay. Hum, koi message nahi de rahe hai (It doesn’t have any message).
These kinds of stories exist because the world has changed. We’re not offering
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge or Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to you.”

Gehraiyaan is a
romantic story about a millennial woman named Alisha (Deepika) who falls in
love with her cousin’s fiance Zain (Siddhant).

In an interview with indianexpress.com,
Deepika stated she has become more sympathetic after working on Gehraiyaan.
“My perspective on people’s relationships, in general, has changed, or the
way I view people has changed,” she added. Of course, a lot of it started
while I was dealing with depression and mental health issues in 2014… when I
realised that half of the people appear to be happy when they aren’t. As a
result, the learning hasn’t been limited to a single relationship. But, in
general, people.”

“My takeaway
from this film is how we might begin to look at individuals with a bit more
understanding and empathy,” she added

The film is all set
to release on February 11 on Amazon Prime Video.
