Telangana government has imposed a 10-day lockdown across the state in view of a surge in COVID-19 cases. The lockdown will come into effect from 10 am on May 12.

“The state government has decided to implement the lockdown for ten days from 10 am on Wednesday, May 12,” the official handle of Telangana CMO tweeted.

However, there would be relaxation for all the activities from 6 am to 10 am daily,” it said.

The cabinet also decided to invite global tenders for procurement of COVID-19 vaccine, it added.

On Monday, Telangana reported 4,826 COVID-19 cases taking the tally to over half a million. The death toll from COVID-19 in Telangana stands at 2,771 after 35 more people died on Monday, a bulletin said.
