In the time when women
face hurdles to follow their passion, Saima
Ubaid from Kashmir has inspired thousands
of women to not only follow but to achieve their dreams. Ubaid became first
woman power-lifter from Kashmir after she won a gold medal at a power-lifting
competition for women organized for the first time by Jammu and Kashmir
Powerlifting Association. She achieved
this milestone because of her husband Ubaiz Hafiz, also a power-lifter who trained her, she told ANI.

weight. He trained me and lead the path to the carrier as a weight-lifter”.

She told ANI that societies
pressures were incapable to break her as she was firm to set an example for
those women who want to pursue their dreams, no matter what. She added, “I
saw she had natural strength to lift weights that is essential for
powerlifting. Then I proposed the idea of the sport and she agreed. We then
started preparing for the competition and by God’s grace she achieved a great
milestone”.

Ubaid, a fitness trainer for women
got married to her husband in 2018 and the couple are motivating people to never

same since she got married as she suffered some health complications which became
a barrier for her to conceive, predicted by doctors. But soon she got better
and became a mother to a baby girl, who is now one-year-old.

Although after her child, she
suffered spine complication and was suggested by doctors to refrain workout but
that also never became a hindrance for her to achieve her workout goals.
