UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson felicitated Khalsa Aid volunteer from UK and pilot Jaspal Singh with the Prime Minister’s Factors of Mild award for flying 200 oxygen concentrators to India amid COVID surge. Johnson, in a letter to Singh, said that he was
impressed to listen to Singh’s “huge contribution to India’s battle in
opposition to coronavirus.

Singh volunteered to take 200 concentrators to India in its battle against the
deadly COVID-19. India
is battling a fierce second wave of coronavirus and hospitals in several parts
of the country have reported shortages in oxygen supply, vaccines, medicines.

Seeing the devastating impact of the pandemic, Singh reached out to his employer Virgin
Atlantic. He asked them if they could help India by flying concentrators to the country.

“Having seen the catastrophic impact of
COVID-19 in India, I wanted to do everything within my power to support the
cause,” he was quoted as saying in a statement released by Points Of
Light.

“It has been amazing to see the generosity of
the general public, colleagues, friends, and family who have donated much-needed
oxygen concentrator machines to Khalsa Aid International.
