Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday
imposed night-curfew in 10 districts consisting of more than 2,000 active
COVID-19 cases, PTI reported. The curfew would be 11-hour long and has been
issued with immediate effect.

The decision was taken at a virtual meeting chaired by the
Chief Minister from his residence, after he himself tested COVID-19 positive on
Wednesday.

The curfew would be imposed between 8 pm and 7 am in 10 districts, including the following districts:

Lucknow

·       
Allahabad

·       
Varanasi

·       
Kanpur

·       
Gautam Buddh Nagar

·       
Ghaziabad

·       
Meerut

·       
Gorakhpur

Highlighting Lucknow among the aforementioned, the CM reportedly
said that due to more people coming to the city, additional arrangements should
be made there.

Noida, which borders Delhi, also saw a surge in cases, leading
to public announcements being made by the district police and raising awareness
about the COVID-19 situation.

Earlier, Yogi Adityanath had asked district officials to
create quarantine centres in each district of the state in order to accommodate
home-bound migrant workers.

On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh recorded 25,510 new daily COVID-19
cases, the highest-ever daily caseload till now. Total number of active
infections in the state have now crossed the one-lakh mark.
