India skipper Virat Kohli on Tuesday scored 56 off 60 balls as India posted a total of 317 against England in the first of the three-match ODI series in Pune. In their chase of 318, England scored 135 for no loss in the 15th over before Indian bowlers scripted a wining comeback with debutant pacer Prasidh Kumar snaring 4/54 — the best by an Indian on debut.
Following the victory, Kohli in the post-match presentation said, %u201CThis is one of our sweetest wins in the recent past. This one is right up there with any other. Getting nine wickets so quickly is outstanding. To come back into the game the way they did is brilliant. I’m a really, really proud man right now.%u201D
He added, %u201CAs I mentioned in the past as well, we promote players who have intent. Special mention to Shikhar’s innings as well. KL as well, back among the runs. We want to back the people who we know will go out and do a selfless job.%u201D
