Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former Indian captain, announced his retirement from international cricket on Saturday. Dhoni led the Indian team to victories at a T20 World Cup, an ODI World Cup, a Champions Trophy, and countless other series. Dhoni made his international debut in 2004 and won several laurels with the Indian team. M S Dhoni is the only captain in cricketing history to hold an ICC World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy, and an ICC T20 World Cup.

Here are some of Dhoni’s most memorable innings for Team India:

  • Dhoni’s knock of 224 in the first test match of the 2012-2013 Border-Gavaskar Trophy helped India win the match by 8 wickets. Dhoni 224 not out helped India secure a mammoth 572 run total in the second innings of the match and after the Aussie’s collapsed in the third innings, India chased down the paltry target of 50 at the lost of 2 wickets in the final innings.
  • Dhoni’s knock of 148 against Pakistan in the 2005-06 Test series helped team India overcome Pakistan’s 588 run total and the match ended in a draw.
  • Dhoni scored 183 runs off 145 balls, his career-best in One Day International, against Sri Lanka in the 3rd ODI of the India Srilanka test series conducted in 2005-2006. During the course of the innings, Dhoni smashed 15 boundaries and 10 sixes in an innings that secured India the match against Sri Lanka. The target of 303 was chased down in 46 overs courtesy Dhoni’s innings.
  • Dhoni’s second-best innings of 148 from 123 balls came against Pakistan in the second One Day International of the 2004-2005 India-Pakistan series held in Visakhapatnam. Dhoni’s performance helped India amass a total of 356 runs in the 50 overs. India went on to win the match by 58 runs.
  • One of Dhoni’s best knocks was 139 run innings against Australia. In the third ODI held at Mohali, Chandigarh, Dhoni scored 139 of 121 balls but for a futile cause. India lost the match by 4 wickets.
  • Dhoni’s 134 run knock against England at Cuttack in the 2016-2017 ODI series helped India win the match by 15 runs.
