World Art Day, which intends to promote creative activity worldwide is celebrated on April 15 every year. It was first celebrated in the year 2012, with the support of a committee of 150 artists. It is celebrated on the birth anniversary of the famed Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci, who was born on this day in 1452.

The proposal to celebrate April 15 as World Art Day was put forward in 2012 during the 17th General Assembly of the International Association of Art in Guadalajara

On this day, United Nation Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) encourages everyone to join various activities and participate in different cultural events organized in different countries.

UNESCO tweeted, “In times of crises we need culture and artist more than ever. On Thursday #WorldArtDay join us in recognising how art is helping people around the world cope with the pandemic.”

The day is cricial since art nourishes creativity, fuels innovation and cultural diversity for all the people around the world.
