The Madhya Pradesh government, in an important decision, announced that government jobs in the state will be reserved only for the state’s youth. Making the announcement on Tuesday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that necessary legal steps will be taken to set the ball rolling.
“We will be taking necessary legal steps so that government jobs in Madhya Pradesh are only given to the state’s youth,” Chouhan said in a video message released in Bhopal. This comes days after the CM announced in the Independence Day speech that local youths in Madhya Pradesh would get preference for government jobs in the state.
“Madhya Pradesh youths will be given priority in government jobs. It is our duty to be concerned about the youths of our state at a time when job opportunities are scarce,” Shivraj Singh Chouhan had said on Saturday.
Tuesday’s announcement was met by a sharp response from Kashmir leader and former-CM Omar Abdullah who tweeted, “Jobs in J&K and Ladakh for everyone but jobs in MP exclusively for people from MP. No surprise there!”. Jammu and Kashmir lost its special status and statehood in August last year. Article 370, which was abrogated, ensured special rights for its citizens.
