Virat Kohli has been leading Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) since 2013, a side that is yet to win their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title. Kohli’s Bangalore finished runners-up in the 2016 edition but have since disappointed and were bottom of the eight-team table last year. This year could be the one where he leads his team to a title victory as the side wears a much more balanced look.

As RCB takes on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, here are the five RCB players who could make an impact in IPL 2020:

Ab de Villiers

The 36-year-old AB de Villiers has been one of RCB’s most consistent performers over the year. The team has always banked on him and Kohli to take to a commanding total. He has a wide range of shots and the ability to change the match in a matter of balls.

De Villiers has scored 4935 runs in 154 IPL games at a brilliant average of 40. He also has three centuries and 33 half-centuries to his name.

In an interview ahead of IPL 2020, de Villiers said that he was determined to win the cup for captain Kohli. That statement itself would fear in their minds and make de Villiers the batsman to watch out for.

Devdutt Padikkal

Devdutt Padikkal is just 20-year-old, but has already taken the Indian domestic cricket circuit by storm. He scored 650 runs at an average of 59 in the 13 List A Games that he played last year. In T20s, he opens the batting for Karnataka and notched up 580 runs in 12 games, including an unbeaten 122.

Padikkal could add a lot of firepower to RCB’s top-order that already boasts of Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

Navdeep Saini

Skipper Virat Kohli loves having fast bowlers in his arsenal. He has a special corner for those that deliver sheer pace. Navdeep Saini does exactly that. The pacer from Delhi can consistently clock 145kmph.

He bowls fast, picks wickets, and is the captain’s go-to bowler every time he needs to rattle the opposition. Saini broke into the national side after stellar performances in IPL 2019. He would hope to build on that and lead his side to their maiden IPL title.

Adam Zampa

Leg-spinner Adam Zampa wasn’t in the RCB squad when the auction ended last year. The side had instead invested Rs 4 crore in fellow Australian Kane Richardson. But Richardon pulled out of the Indian Premier League for the birth of his first child, forcing the team to sign Zampa as a replacement. Zampa is a wily spinner who has played only 11 matches in the IPL so far, but has picked 19 wickets at an average of 14. He also holds another record to his name – of dismissing Virat Kohli the most number of times (4) in ODIs.

Zampa will add to Bangalore’s already impressive spin options including Indians Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar and Pawan Negi, and Moeen Ali from England.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is regarded has one of the best batsman of his era. He is the highest scorer in IPL history, having amassed over 5,400 runs.

No list of IPL’s best performers would be complete without Kohli’s name. He wears his heart on the sleeve, and will come out all guns blazing in UAE. He has been with the side since the inception of the tournament in 2008 and would be hoping to lift the cup this time around.
