Aaron Rodgers threw his 500th career touchdown pass on Sunday. The 38-year-old quarterback’s strong second-half show guided the Green Bay Packers to a 27-24 overtime win against the New England Patriots at the Lambeau Field on Sunday.

The Patriots led Green Bay for the first two quarters of the game. 3-0 after the first quarter and 10-7 at half-time. It was in the third quarter that Rodgers and co recovered to tie at 17-17. 

Overtime was set at 24-24. Mason Crosby made a 31-yard field goal as time expired and the Green Bay Packers topped the Patriots. Star of the game: Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers had a pretty ordinary first half. He threw a pick-six in the waning seconds of the first half to give the Patriots a 10-7 lead. His first pass, for 24 yards, to Allen Lazard ended up in a fumble on the next play. 

In the second quarter, Aaron Rodgers picked up the initial first down with a 13-yard pass to Lazard. AJ Dillon picked up seven yards, but the Packers, after two incompletions, had to punt.

Green Bay had a chance to seal the game in regulation. Rodgers delivered a deep ball to end zone, which was caught by Doubs but the wide receiever wasn’t able to maintain control of the ball. The pass was incomplete. 

Both teams punted on their first OT possessions. The Packers finally had a game-winning drive, which started fro their 10-yard line.

Rodgers went 4 of 11 for 44 yards for an 11.2 passer rating in the first half, the worst rating the four-time MVP had ever recorded for any half in his 18-year career, according to ESPN Stats & Info. 

It was Rodgers’ first pick-6 since Tampa Bay’s Jamel Dean scored on a 32-yard interception return in the Buccaneers’ 38-10 victory over the Packers on Oct. 18, 2020.

However, he ended up  21 of 35 for 251 yards with touchdown passes to Doubs and Robert Tonyan.
