Jonny Bairstow and Rashid Khan starred for Sunrisers Hyderabad as they beat Delhi Capitals by 15 runs in an Indian Premier League match at Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. Sunrisers Hyderabad not only performed with the bat and ball but also displayed sharp fielding skills to restrict the flow of runs. Shreyas Iyer, winning the toss, elected to bat first.

Batting first, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow struggled initially and couldn’t score runs freely. This was not a typical partnership that one will see between these two explosive batsmen. Perfect line and length, coupled with good fielding efforts, Delhi Capitals had stemmed the flow of runs.

To make matters worse, Warner departed as he was closing in on his IPL fifty. However, his dismissal did not stop Bairstow from scoring. With the help of occasional boundaries and singles and doubles, the English international notched up his fourth IPL half-century. He was looking to change gears but was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada.

Kane Williamson, who returned to the squad, played calculated cricket to help his team post a respectable total on board. Rabada and Amit Mishra picked up two wickets each as other bowlers failed to pick up wickets.

In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad, who needed a win desperately, were helped by their bowlers as Delhi Capitals struggled to score runs. Except for Shikhar Dhawan, who scored 34 off 31 runs, the other batsmen failed to fire. Shreyas Iyer (17), Rishabh Pant (28) and Shimron Hetmyer (21) were the ones who looked like creating trouble.

However, Rashid Khan, adjudged Man of the Match, weaved his magic and left the DC batsmen reeling. Having finished the match with figures of 3/14 in his stipulated four overs, Khan made a strong impact.

In the IPL 2020 points table, Delhi Capitals are placed second and Sunrisers Hyderabad are placed sixth.
