The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Saturday, announced the schedule of the domestic cricket in India for the upcoming 2021-22 season. In its statement, the BCCI said that the season will start on September 21, 2021, with the Senior Women’s One Day League.

It will be followed by the Senior Women’s One Day Challenger Trophy, to begin on October 27, 2021.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will commence on October 20, 2021. The final of the tournament will be played on November 12, 2021.

The Ranji Trophy, which was cancelled last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will start from November 16, 2021, and will be played until February 19, 2022. It will be played in a three-month window.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy is scheduled for February 23, 2022, to March 26, 2022.

The BCCI, in a statement, further added that a total of 2,127 domestic games will be played during the season across various age groups in the men’s and women’s categories.

“The BCCI is confident of hosting the domestic season with health and safety of players and all people involved being paramount,” the Indian cricket board said.

Earlier on Tuesday, it was announced that the 2021 T20 World Cup will be played in the UAE and Oman. It was originally scheduled to take place in India. The coveted tournament will be played from October 17 to November 14.

The International Cricket Council’s statement came a day after BCCI intimated to the governing body that the event can be moved out of India.

“The BCCI will remain the hosts of the event, which will now be held in Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, from 17 October to 14 November 2021,” the ICC said in a statement.
