Sunrisers Hyderabad saw a major batting collapse as they got beaten by a disciplined Royal Challengers Bangalore side on Monday in an Indian Premier League (IPL) tie. Having won the toss, Hyderabad decided to bowl first. Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal gave a steady start to RCB as the match begun. Padikkal, the debutant, looked in fine touch as he scored a sublime half-century.

However, Vijay Shankar sent the debutant back to the pavilion shortly after he hit fifty. Things seemed wary for the Bangalore-based team as they lost Finch in the very next over.

Captain Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers steadied the ship for a brief time post which Kohli departed after scoring 14 runs.

The middle order of the RCB fought well and played the Hyderabad bowlers skilfully. De Villiers’ quickfire 50 helped RCB post a target of 164.

In reply, SRH were off to a solid start, courtesy the flamboyant batting of Jonny Bairstow. Although, captain David Warner was dismissed unluckily, Bairstow kept the score ticking with good rotation of strikes and occasional boundaries. RCB bowlers looked out of form as SRH were hitting boundaries at will.

But, the game was far from over. Kohli needed a wicket and Yuzvendra Chahal delivered. He took two-in-two to bring his team back in the game.

Following this, all was downhill for Hyderabad as they lost flurry of wickets in a collapse of a lifetime. RCB bowlers ran through the middle order and lower order as Bangalore registered a well-fought victory.

Spinner Chahal was adjudged the player of the match.
