Former Brazilian footballer and World Cup winner Ronaldinho Gaucho has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-isolating himself, the 40-year-old informed his fans on Sunday.
The ex-Barcelona starlet, who lifted the UEFA Champion League trophy with the team in 2006, defeated Arsenal in the finals of the tournament.
He said that he got his diagnosis while playing for Brazilian professional side Atlético Mineiro in Belo Horizonte.
In a video posted on his Instagram handle, the former AC Milan player informed fans that he tested positive for COVID-19 and added that he was asymptomatic and was feeling good.
“Hi friends, family, fans, I took a Covid-19 test and the result was positive, I’m doing well, I’m asymptomatic for now,” the 40-year-old said in a video posted on Instagram.
The Brazilian midfielder, who is known for his flamboyant footballing displays, was detained and jailed in Paraguay earlier this year over a fake passport scandal.
The former Ballon d’Or winner informed fans and well wishers that he would stay in a hotel at Belo Horizonte until his condition improved.
