In a poignant pre-show performance that added a touch of musical grandeur to the US Open Women’s final, Grammy-winning composer, singer, and visual artist Cécile McLorin Salvant, accompanied by pianist Sullivan Fortner, graced Arthur Ashe Stadium with a beautiful rendition of “America the Beautiful.”

This heartwarming moment was a tribute to the championship match featuring Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka.

Prior to Salvant’s performance, the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School singers from nearby Astoria, Queens, paid homage to the late Tony Bennett, a devoted tennis fan and patron of the US Open, with a medley tribute.

Salvant herself is a three-time Grammy Award winner and recipient of the prestigious 2020 MacArthur fellowship.

Adding to the ceremonial grandeur, the United States Marine Corps, 6th Communication Battalion, Brooklyn, N.Y., presented the colors, while an all-women contingent of the US Open Ball Crew unfurled a giant American flag across the court.
