Chelsea fans have started blaming club owner Todd Boehly for the club’s poor state. With Frank Lampard as interim manager, the Stamford Bridge camp faced a 1-0 defeat against the Wolves on Saturday.

The Blues spent big bucks during the last transfer window. They roped in World Cup-winning midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for a British-record £106.8m. They signed winger Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth £88.5m. Joao Felix was the other big name.

However, wins have been rare for the 2021 UEFA Champions League winners. They are 11th on the Premier League table with 10 wins in 30 games.

On Saturday, Matheus Nunes nailed a stunning volley in the 31st minute to give Wolves a lead vs Chelsea. They moved four points clear of the relegation zone. Lampard had stepped in as caretaker after the Blues sacked Graham Potter this week.

Fans did not blame Lampard, who has coached Chelsea in the past, so much. They went after the club’s American owner Todd Boehly.

“Sacked Tuchel Hired Potter Sacked Potter Hired Lampard I blame Todd Boehly for all this. Money doesn’t solve everything,” a Twitter user said.

“Losing Roman Abramovich and getting Todd Boehly is our biggest problem,” another one said.

“Boehly turned us from title contenders to relegation contenders in 1 season,” a third one tweeted.
