At its home stadium at Elland Road, Leeds United trounced Chelsea to win 3-0. With this win, Leeds defeated their rivals in the Premier League for the first time in the last twenty-one years. Brenden Aaronson (33′), Rodrigo Moreno (37′), and Jack Harrison (69′) scored goals that upset the odds and gave the home team a well-earned victory. Kalidou Koulibaly‘s unnecessary red card (84’) late in the game summed up the dismal day for the Blues, who are now just left with four points from three games.

Seeing how Chelsea played throughout the match, it was hard for some to belive that this was the same Chelsea team that dominated over the Tottenham Hotspurs last week in a game where tempers rose frequently.

Raheem Sterling started out bright but eventually faded after the first 20 minutes, just like all his teammates. The favours were against Leeds United. However former RB Salzburg player, Brenden Aaronson dominated the whole game. He gave Kalidou Koulibaly his run for money along the right side, prompting the No. 7 to be pulled down. Chelsea scrambled to clear a free kick that was given as the Leeds supporters booed and Koulibaly was shown a yellow card just nine minutes into the game.

At the 15th minute, Sterling scored a goal, curling the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. However, it was ruled out due to offside. It was a horror day for Chelsea goalkeeper Édouard Mendy, who gave Leeds their first goal on a plate. After failing to stop Thiago Silva’s backpass, Aaronson quickly takes possession of the ball to score his first PL goal. After just four minutes, Chelsea conceded another goal, after Sterling received a yellow card for a foul. Harrison took the set piece, and Rodrigo put the ball in the net. At the half time, Leeds was roared off.

In the second half, disgruntled Thomas Tuchel changed his midfield, substituting Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech for Jorginho and Gallagher. It had little impact since Harrison’s third-quarter goal gave Leeds an afternoon to remember. Rodrigo turned back a James chip intended for Aaronson, and Harrison could took the opportunity to score the third goal of the match. As the competition came to a close, Koulibably grabbed Joe Gelhardt, a substitute, to be flashed a red card by the referee.
