Chicago Bears wide receiver Velus Jones dropped a touchdown catch from quarterback Tyson Bagent while playing against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

Several Bears fans reacted to the drop on X and slammed Jones for mishap. One user wrote, “Velus Jones is a worse liability than Ryan Gosling in Remember the Titans”

“So you open with Bagent when Velus Jones made one of the worst plays I’ve ever seen a Bears player make in 50 years?” another user wrote. 

One X user wrote, “This defense is horrible. I don’t want to hear about injuries. They’ve been absolutely torched the entire game and most of the last 2 years with only 2 good games. And I have no idea why Velus Jones still has a job.”

Jones plays as a wide receiver for the Chicago Bears. He attended USC to play collegiate football before moving to Tennessee. The Bears selected Jones with the 71st overall pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. On May 17, 2022, he agreed to a four-year contract with the Bears.

He is an athletic and quick 6’0″ 200-pound receiver. In addition, he possesses a great work ethic and is an adept route runner. Although he is still growing as a player, the NFL could see him as a primary receiver and return specialist.

Jones caught seven catches for 107 yards and one touchdown during his Bears rookie campaign. In addition, he had 607 yards on 20 kickoff returns.
