Curtis used leg kicks to show intensity early in the bout, but Imavov quickly retaliated by taking the fight to the ground. Surprisingly, Imavov displayed an unsuspected striking game, stopping Curtis from causing damage and making him defend against the Frenchman’s superior wrestling.

Imavov continued to apply pressure and try to close the distance as the second round began. Unfortunately, an unanticipated turn of events brought the battle to an end. Curtis fell to the ground as a result of an unintentional crash of heads, with a bloodstream overflowing around his right eye.

Although the cage-side doctor said that Curtis’ eye was not seriously injured. The fighter kept on insisting that he was unable to open it. Despite the doctor’s assessment, Chris Curtis persistently pleaded with referee Jason Herzog for additional time to recover.

Several social media users alleged that Curtis was faking the severity of his eye injury.

“Chris Curtis is faking being upset. What a fucking bitch. He was getting pieced up and took the Aljamain Sterling secret backdoor exit for cowards,” a Twitter user said.

“Chris Curtis taking another L by faking feeling too much pain by a little headbutt. What a joke this guy is, he Imadov was playing with him. Chris Curtis up there now as one of the most annoying fighter in UFC,” another one added.

One user said “Chris Curtis conveniently yelling that he can’t see loud enough for the ref to hear then fake freak out when he tries to stop the fight is pure comedy #UFC289.”

Many fans claimed that the unintentional clash of heads was a lucky turn of events for Curtis, who appeared to be on the losing end of the fight up until that point.
