Cristiano Ronaldo shocked reporters when he made an unannounced appearance at a press meet at Portugal’s training grounds. There were speculations floating in the media about the relationship between the Portugal captain and his Manchester United teammate, Bruno Fernandes, when they exchanged a cold handshake in the Portugal dressing room.

During the press meet, CR7 said that in the video depicting him with Fernandes, he was asking the latter whether he arrived by boat since his flight was late. Ronaldo also asked members of the media to stop talking to his Portugal teammates about him, and to instead focus their questions on the World Cup

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner told members of the media in Qatar, “Timing is always timing,” “From your side it is easy to look at how we can chose timings. He further added, “Sometimes you write truths, sometimes you write lies. I don’t have to worry what other think. I talk when I want to. Everybody knows who I am, what I believe in.”

Regarding the atmosphere in the Portugal dressing room, the 37-year-old said, “The atmosphere is excellent, no problems, we are completely focused. You can help by not talking about me. I’m completely bullet-proof and iron-clad.” The last sentence is being seen as a confirmation that Ronaldo is standing by the comments he has made against his club, Manchester United, in a recent interview with British TV host Piers Morgan.

In the interview, Ronaldo said club manager Erik Ten Hag, along with other executive figures, had strategically refrained from including him as a regular starter in order to force him out of the club.

He went on to say that there is no love lost between him and Ten Hag, and that the latter only praises him in front of the media, but it is a wholly different picture behind the scenes.

Man United are apparently weighing their options against Ronaldo and will likely take a decision once club football commences after the World Cup.
