Cristiano Ronaldo scored the goal in the 54th minute of Portugal versus Uruguay game but the goal was subsequently awarded to teammate Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes got the ball out wide and whipped ball into Ronaldo. Portugal forward didn’t appear to get a touch before it flew into the net, but that didn’t stop him from running off to celebrate the goal.

Replays subsequently showed that the delivery from
Fernandes had gone directly into the net without any contact from Ronaldo, who
became the first player to score in five different World Cups when scored
against Ghana in his country’s opening World Cup match.

However, fans started trolling Ronaldo for his action. Here is how social media reacted to the incident:
One fan said “Ronaldo should have the ball tested for his hairspray,” while another noted, “What’s snicko saying on that ‘Ronaldo’ goal?”
One more tweeted, “Ronaldo was celebrating with passion because he was happy for Bruno.” While another stated, “BREAKING NEWS….Ronaldo has also claimed the ‘Hand of God’ goal at Mexico 1986.” Another quipped, “Ronaldo is humble he gave his goal to Bruno.”
Ronaldo ended his relationship with Manchester United by
mutual consent last week, following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.
He has moved fully to international mode and is aiming to break multiple World
Cup records.

Despite, Ronaldo’s claims that he had opened the scoring
against Uruguay and official channels saying that he had scored the goal, that
was later revised by FIFA to confirm that it was his former club teammate
Fernandes who would be credited with the goal.
