Buffalo Bills earlier said that Hamlin has “shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours” and “has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact.” This means he is responsive, making purposeful movements and following commands.

Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following the hit from an open-field tackle on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. He was transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further testing and treatment.

On Tuesday night, Hamlin’s uncle, Dorrian Glenn said that his status has improved but the 24-year-old remains in intensive care. His condition has improved to 50 percent oxygen on a ventilator from the time he was relying fully on the life-saving equipment.

Mario Hamlin, Damar’s father, reportedly spoke to the Bills via a Zoom call on Wednesday. He told the players that his son remained in critical condition in the ICU at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, has been “making progress.” The team was reportedly “emotional” when hearing from Mario but it helped “calm” everyone down and was something the team “needed.”
