Damar Hamlin, Buffalo Bills star who suffered a cardiac arrest in Week 17, on Sunday said that he will not attend the team’s playoff game against the Miami Dolphins at the Highmark Stadium. The 24-year-old will support Josh Allen and co ‘from home’.

What happened to Damar Hamlin?
Higgins began the play by catching a pass from Joe Burrow close to the 50-yard line and running downfield while leading with his right shoulder, which struck Hamlin in the chest.
Hamlin, the defender, made a tackle by encircling Higgins’ head and shoulders and bringing him to the ground. Sports analysts noted the jarring impact of the hit while describing the tackle as being normal. Hamlin briefly stood up after the play before collapsing and sliding backward.
In less than ten seconds, team trainers and paramedics arrived at Hamlin’s side in the middle. For ten minutes, first responders treated Hamlin on the field using CPR, automatic external defibrillation (AED), and other procedures. Finally, oxygen and an intravenous solution were given to Hamlin (IV).
A little over four minutes after his collapse, an ambulance was dispatched to the scene to provide more aid. The majority of the players from both teams came off the sidelines to kneel or stand close to him on the field as he was being carried off on a stretcher. They were obviously upset and emotional about his condition.
He was reported to be in serious condition and had been intubated upon arrival by ambulance at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center at about 9:23 p.m. EST. The Bills reported that Hamlin first experienced cardiac arrest and that his heartbeat was restored on the field later that evening at 1:48 a.m. local time. Initial reports from numerous news outlets citing medical experts suggested that commotio cordis may have been involved in the tragedy.
