Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals’ 26-year-old star quarterback, took on NFL GOAT Tom Brady on Sunday. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-7) are struggling off-late. They are averaging 17.2 — 28th in the NFL — per game and come to Week 15 after losing 35-7 at San Francisco.

Several social media users compared the matchup between Brady and Burrow to football’s Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe

Messi-led Argentina beat Mbappe’s France at the FIFA World Cup 2022 final on Sunday.

“Brady vs Burrow is the Messi vs Mbappe of the NFL,” a Twitter user said.

“Brady vs Burrow> Messi vs Mbappe,” another one added.

“First we got Messi vs Mbappe. Now we get Brady vs Burrow. Battle of GOATS everywhere,” a third one tweeted.

The trend was picked up by American football fans following the FIFA World Cup 2022 final in which Argentina won. However, for the French, Lionel Messi produced an incredible performance scoring a hattrick in the final – the first ever in World Cup history.

Messi and Mbappe are teammates at Paris Saint Germain, a club in France owned by Qatar. As they faced off at Lusail stadium for the final on Sunday, there was a lot of speculation about who will come on top in the match.

Although it was a tightly fought contest there is no doubt that Argentina deserved to be the winner for their brilliant all-round performance. Kylian Mbappe, however, took home the golden boot – the prize for the most goalscorer in the tournament.

Tom Brady and Joe Burrow are two of NFL’s greatest quarterbacks and their similarity with Messi and Mbappe is not surprising since they took the field on the same day the Argentine and the French did in Qatar.
