Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, who underwent heart surgery on October 23, thanked his fans and well-wishers in a video message for their prayers. Dev underwent an emergency coronary angioplasty last week after he had complained of some ‘uneasiness‘ in his chest.

Dev’s surgery, which was done after a heart attack, as reported by PTI, was done in a hospital in New Delhi. The 61-year-old after the operation had tweeted later in that evening, saying he was “well on the road to recovery.”

Indian cricketer Suresh Raina shared the video message by Dev, writing “Good to have you back @therealkapildev Paaji… Best wishes for your movie.”

In the video message released on Thursday, Dev, in Hindi said, “I dearly want to meet you all. Thank you so much for your wishes once again and for your concern. Let’s hope we meet soon.”

Talking about his biopic ’83’ starring Ranveer Singh, which depicts the journey of the Indian team winning the 1983 Cricket World Cup, he said, “I don’t know when will the movie  be released, but we’ll try to meet soon.”

Dev was discharged on October 25 from the hospital.

“Mr Kapil Dev got discharged today afternoon. He’s doing fine and can resume his regular daily activity soon. He’ll be under regular follow-up consultation with Dr Atul Mathur,” the hospital said in a statement.

The 68-year-old all-rounder remains the only player in cricket’s history to claim over 400 wickets (434) and accumulate more than 5000 runs in Tests.

After retiring in 1994, Dev became a national team coach and selector. In 2002, he was named “Indian Cricketer of the Century” by Wisden.
