The new-look Indian Cricket Team sealed the three-match T20I series against New Zealand with a handsome 7-wicket win at the JSCA International Stadium, Ranchi. With the homes series under the belt, India may make some changes in the playing XI. Weighing in on the changes that can be carried out, former India opener Gautam Gambhir suggested a change in the bowling line-up.

Talking to Star Sports, Gambhir said that India might want to give Bhuvneshwar Kumar some rest and bring in Avesh Khan, who was the second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL 2021. Harshal Patel led the list with 24 wickets in 16 matches at an economy of 7.37.

“From a bowling point of view, they can actually rest Bhuvneshwar Kumar and look at Avesh Khan. It will suit him especially the wicket in Kolkata, it’s got pace and bounce. So I would definitely want to see Avesh playing that game,” Hindustan Times quoted Gambhir as saying.

“He has got pace and you got to test him on the international stage when you got the series in your bag. So that is one change they can look towards,” the left-handed batter added.

So far in the series, India have given debuts to Venkatesh Iyer and Harshal Patel. While Iyer got in the 1st T20I, Patel debuted in the second match.

Even though Iyer did not get an opportunity to bowl in the first two ties, he scored 16 runs. On the other hand, Harshal was adjudged Man of the Match for finishing with figures of 2/25.

The veteran cricketer also advised India to still be ruthless in the third game.

“You still have to be ruthless and try to wrap up the series 3-0. But no point putting pressure on yourself,” he added.

Third India vs New Zealand match will be played at Eden Gardens. The toss will take place at 18:30PM and the match will start at 19:00 PM.
