Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya was all praises for opener Shubman Gill when the team emerged victorious over Punjab Kings at the Brabourne Stadium, in the latest nail-biting fixture of IPL 2022.

With 96 off 59 balls, Gill was the top scorer in a match that saw GT win by 6 wickets. He bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award too and has been on a hot streak with a fiery 84 off 46 in the match against Delhi Capitals

Gill has scored 180 runs in three innings, averaging an impressive 60, and has a strike rate of 166.66, earning Pandya’s praise for being consistent.

In a post-match presentation ceremony, the GT skipper commented “Gill has been telling everybody that he is there. A lot of credit goes to Sai as well”, as per ANI.

Gujarat Titans started the match off well, with a 101 run partnership for the second wicket between Gill and Sai Sudharsan. However, Punjab managed to get a foothold in the game and it came down to Gujarat needing 12 off the last two balls. Rahul Tewatia rose to the occasion smashing both out of the park to carry his team to victory.

Pandya commented on this, saying, “The kind of ups and downs happen, I think I have now become used to. It was Kings’ game; some sympathy for them losing this”.

With three consecutive wins, Gujarat Titans are in second place in the IPL points table. They take on Sunrisers Hyderabad next, on Monday.

Before the tournament started, there was some speculation about Pandya’s fitness and whether he’d play as a bowler or batter. However, the Baroda lad has had four overs in three matches, picking up two wickets along the way. The GT skipper addressed fitness concerns, saying, “Body is coping all right; I am getting tired obviously. As the games come, I’ll be getting better”.
