The Indian cricket team led by newly appointed skipper Rohit Sharma will take on New Zealand in the second T20 International to be played at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

The Men in Blue will be looking to seal the series by registering a win in the upcoming encounter. Sharma’s men gave a strong performance in spite of some brittle moments where New Zealand looked to have an upper hand in their first match at Jaipur.

Sharma’s men looked much different to the side that made an early exit from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the UAE. Several big names, including Jasprit Bumrah, Mohamed Shami and Virat Kohli, have been rested for the series and a young Indian side is looking to make a mark.

India’s win in the last game ended their seven-match losing streak against the Kiwis in all formats. While the Black Caps have had an upper hand over the Indians for quite some time, the Men in Blue are always the favourites to win at home.

The Kiwis are without the guidance of their regular skipper Kane Williamson, who has been rested for the series. Other than that New Zealand’s playing XI looks more or less the same. They will be looking to make a comeback in the series following a heart-breaking loss in the T20 World Cup’s final against Australia.

New Zealand made a strong start in the previous encounter thanks to Martin Guptill’s knock of 70 runs in 42 balls, which was supported by Mark Chapman, who registered a half century himself. However,  the Indians made a comeback in the death overs.

Captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain KL Rahul looked comfortable in their new roles and provided a strong base for Suryakumar Yadav to take over and lead the battle. The Kiwis tried to make a comeback in the final overs, but India managed to seal the win in the final over.
