There
is a new Nostradamus on Twitter whose social media post left fans shell shocked
on Friday as the Twitter user accurately predicted Virat Kohli’s score in his
100th Test, the bowler who would take his wicket and his reaction after
dismissal in the first innings of the Test between India and Sri Lanka at IS Bindra PCA Stadium
in Mohali.
Kohli,
who became the 12th Indian cricketer to play 100 Test matches and 71st overall
in the history of Test cricket, was dismissed for 45 in India’s first innings.
Moments
after his dismissal, a tweet started making rounds on social media. The tweet
had mentioned that Kohli would be dismissed for 45 by Lasith Embuldeniya in the
first innings of his 100th Test. According to the Tweet, Kohli’s wicket would
leave him in disbelief. Well, all of those three were predicted accurately by
the user.
“Kohli
Won’t score a 100 in his 100th test. Will score 45 (100) with 4 gorgeous cover
drives and then Embuldeniya will knock his stumps over and he’ll pretend to be
shocked and will nod his head in disappointment,” read the tweet that was
posted almost nine hours before the Test match.
Another Twitter user asked whether it is fixed.
Earlier
in the day, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first in
the first Test of two-match series.
The
opening pair of Rohit and Mayank Agarwal shared a 52-run stand. While Rohit was
dismissed for 29, Agarwal scored 33. Kohli then went on to share a 90-run
partnership with India’s new No.3 Hanuma Vihari, with the latter scoring 58
before being dismissed by Vishwa Fernando.
India
finished with 199 for 4 at Tea with Embuldeniya picking two wickets.
Later,
wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant played a quickfire knock to help India post a big
total.
Meanwhile,
Kohli’s century drought continues. His last hundred in international cricket
came in November 2019 against Bangladesh. Kohli so far scored 70 hundred in
international cricket.
But in the first Test, the interesting point is the accuracy of the tweet.
