The start of the Indian cricket team’s second Goldmedal T20I Cup match against their West Indies counterparts has been delayed by a couple of hours. The match is scheduled to be held at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts. Authorities of Cricket West Indies (CWI) have cited logistical reasons for the delay. While the match was scheduled to start at 8:00 PM IST, it will now reportedly start at 10:00 PM IST.

In a statement released by CWI, the delay was caused because important parts of the players’ luggage did not arrive at the stadium on time. The board also added, “CWI regrets any inconvenience caused to our valued fans, sponsors, broadcast partners and all other stakeholders”. Here is a tweet sent out by the CWI:

The first match of series was played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad, which India won on the back of skipper Rohit Sharma’s 44-ball 64. India had set up a total of 190, to which the Caribbeans responded with 122/8. The 68-run victory will give India confidence in the second encounter.

Weather and pitch forecast

Rain will most likely not be a hindrance in today’s match, while the pitch is expected to be green. This increases the chances of the ball coming onto the bat with ease.
