Mumbai Indians completed an emphatic eight-wicket win over the Kolkata Knight Riders thanks to an explosive start from openers Rohit Sharma (35 from 36) and Quinton de Kock (78 from 44).

The win takes the defending champions to the top of the table, with six wins from eight matches, level with the Delhi Capital, although they boast a superior net run rate.

Earlier, Pat Cummins brought up his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) fifty, with skipper Eoin Morgan marshalling the other end as the duo led the KKR to a respectable 148-run total against the Mumbai Indians on Friday.

KKR lost Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana in the power play overs with Shubman Gill and Dinesh Karthik following them in quick succession.

With KKR looking set to finish around the 120-mark, Pat Cummins led the counter attack, with Morgan, to give the KKR bowlers something to defend.
