With the wheels of the Indian Premier League (IPL) already set rolling, Rajasthan Royals are set to start their campaign against Chennai Super Kings on September 22.

Led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Super Kings side overcame their opening fixture against Mumbai Indians quite comfortably. With momentum in their strides, CSK will be looking to double their points on Tuesday.

However, it’s not only the form going into the match that will boost the morale of the Chennai side but also their superior record.

The two teams have previously faced each other 21 times in the IPL so far, with CSK getting the better of the Rajasthan outfit on 14 occasions. Hence, Super Kings clearly outdoes Rajasthan in the head-to-head records (14-7).

Last Season, RR suffered defeat against the Chennai-based franchise on both occasions.

The Steven Smith-led side are set to play their match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE and the prospects look a bit dim. RR have lost the only match they played at the stadium in 2014, when the first 20 matches of the IPL were hosted in the UAE owing to the Assembly elections in India.

Chennai here too edge Rajasthan Royals, as they won their only game at this ground.

Overall, Chennai have won the IPL three times, while the Rajasthan side has one title to its name. In 2008, these franchises had contested the first-ever IPL final.

Though CSK have eked out more overall wins, Rajasthan, led by Shane Warne, got the better of the Chennai outfit win in the final.

So, the record books have a different story to tell, but in the high-intensity matches against such top opponents, all the numbers go flying out of the park.
