Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets at a packed Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday to lift the Indian Premier League title in a dream maiden season. 

Opting to bat after winning the toss, Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals were restricted to 130 for nine. In reply, GT lost two early wickets but eventually chased down the target of 131 with 11 balls to spare.

However, both the Orange and Purple cup winners belonged to Rajasthan. Jos Buttler finished the season with 863 runs to win the Orange cap while Yuzvendra Chahal took 27 wickets, which is the most by a spinner in an IPL season. Buttler won five more awards, including the Fours award for hitting 83 of them throughout the 15th season.

GT pacer Lockie Ferguson on Sunday clocked the fastest delivery of IPL 2022, surpassing Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Umran Malik’s record. He bowled a ball that was at 157.3kmph in the last delivery of the fifth. With this, he won the Fastest Delivery of the Season award.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Dinesh Karthik, who finished the season with a strike rate of 183.33, won the ‘Super Striker’ award. He also got a TATA Punch car.
