Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants in the 26th match of the 2022 Indian Premier League at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.
Mumbai Indians, who have won the IPL trophy five times in the past, have not won a single game this season and are placed at the bottom of the points table. Rohit Sharma and co come to this game after facing a 12-run defeat against the Punjab Kings.
“We will look to bowl first. Since it’s a day game we tried to get another slower ball. It’s a good pitch to play cricket and with his experience coming in, it will be good for us. We got Tymal, Fabian, Polly and Brevis. We just need to keep things under control and stay calm, it’s that simple. We don’t need to overcomplicate things. We just need to come out and play basic cricket and will be focussing on doing that,” Rohit Sharma said after winning the toss.
KL Rahul-led LSG, on the other hand, presently stand fifth in the points table with three wins and two defeats. They lost their last game against Rajasthan Royals by 3 runs.
“We are playing some good cricket since the first game. It’s a new team and the boys are coming together really well and we always found a way to stay in the game. We have one change. Gowtham misses out and Manish Pandey comes in,” KL Rahul said.
