Jake Matthews and wife Meggi welcomed their first child Beckett on Thursday. The Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle, however, arrived for Thursday night’s game against the Carolina Panthers in time to play.
Meggi Matthews tweeted: “ Baby boy is safely delivered and @jakematthews70 is safely delivered to the plane to Charlotte. RISE UP @AtlantaFalcons!!!! I did my best Falcons fans.”

The team then posted a video of the player jogging down the tunnel at Bank of America Stadium before the Week 10 matchup.
The Falcons drafted Matthews sixth overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at Texas A&M. In March, he signed a three-year, $52.5 million extension with the Falcons.
He is a member of the Matthews family of football players.

Jake Matthews was born as Jacob Thomas Matthews to Bruce and Carrie on February 11, 1992 in Missouri, Texas.
Jake’s father introduced him to football.
Jake has six other siblings; Steven, Kevin, Marilyn, Jake, Mike, Luke, and Gwen Matthews. He is also the cousin to former Green Bay Packers‘ linebacker Clay Matthews III.
Kevin played as a center for Texas A&M. He was also a member of the Titans and Carolina Panthers in the NFL for five years.
Jake’s sister, Gwen, has Down Syndrome.

Jake Matthews married Meggi last year. The two celebrated their first year anniversary on March 12, 2022.
“Happy FIRST Anniversary to the love of my life!! What a incredible first year of marriage, God has taught us so much through this first year and blessed us unimaginably. I thank Him every single day for giving me you. You are my best friend, travel partner, protector, and incredible leader of our house. I never knew how much I could love someone until I met you. I can’t wait for forever with you,” Meggi posted an image on Instagram.
