Carolina Panthers’ wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr took a sling pass from QB Phillip Walker and ran down the field for 41 yards to score the first touchdown for the team on Thursday Night against the Atlanta Falcons. The game is played at the Bank of America Stadium.
This gives the WR his second-end zone play for the year, after scoring one in week 3 against the New Orleans Saints. He has nine receptions for 132 receiving yards so far this season.
Carolina led Falcons 13-3 at the end of first half. The Panthers have struck two-field goals through kicker Eddy Pineiro.
The team from Carolina is coming off a blowout 42-21 defeat against the Cincinnati Bengals and have lost five of their last seven games, placing them bottom of the NFC South division. The team has been involved in a lot of changes even before the season began. They traded for disgruntled Cleveland Browns’ QB Baker Mayfield, pairing him up with his fellow draft-class quarterback Sam Darnold, who is still out with a high ankle sprain he suffered prior to the season beginning.
They then fired Head coach Matt Rhule five games into the season after the former Baylor coach could only guide the team to a 1-4 start. They traded star running back Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers for multiple picks, depleting their squad and also exchanged wide receiver Robbie Anderson with Arizona Cardinals. The Panthers have a difficult schedule going ahead as they are lined up to face Buccs and Saints in the final to weeks of the season.
Panthers are currently one of the worst offensive sides across the league and are ranked 27th this year. They have passed for just nine touchdowns between their three quarterbacks, Baker Mayfield, Jacob Eason and Phillip Walker.
