Major League Baseball outfit Los Angeles Angels have signed veteran reliever Hunter Strickland on Saturday. Strickland has been acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for a yet to be named player or cash. Rays already boast of exceptional depth in the pitching department.

Strickland, 32, has a 1.69 Earned Run Average in 13 games in the current season representing the Rays. He has eight big-league seasons under his belt, pitching mostly for the San Francisco Giants. In the last three seasons, Strickland has played for the Seattle Mariners, Washington Nationals, New York Mets and Rays.

With a career ERA of 3.14 and 21 saves, Strickland has struck out 8.3 hitters per nine innings throughout his career.

All stats aside, his career highlight is perhaps an altercation with Bryce Harper who was then playing for the Nationals and Strickland was with the San Francisco Giants.

Harper had hit Strickland for a homerun twice in the 2014 postseason. Strickland never forgot that and hit Harper with a pitch three years later. Harper then charged the mound and the two exchanged punches. Both Strickland and Harper were suspended for six games four games respectively.
