Dayanidhi Maran, a DMK member of parliament took to his Twitter on Wednesday to narrate an interesting encounter with one of his parliamentary colleagues and BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy. In a series of tweets, Maran told about the day when he was flown to Chennai by Rudy, who is also an airplane pilot.

The DMK leader titled the Tweet thread ‘A Flight to Remember.’

According to Maran’s post, he boarded an Indigo airlines flight from Delhi to Chennai after attending a meeting of the parliamentary Estimates Committee.

“I happened to sit in the first row, as the crew declared that the boarding had completed,” said Maran.

He then recalled how suddenly someone with a familiar voice came up and asked him about his flight. The DMK leader, however, was unable to identify the person because he had a mask on.

“So you are traveling in this flight as well!’ said a person dressed in the Captain’s uniform. I could not recognise him with his mask on, although his voice sounded familiar. I nodded my head, still wondering who it could be. He looked at me and his eyes gave away the smile behind the mask. ‘So you don’t recognize me!” Maran tweeted.

The DMK leader further wrote, “I realised then that it was none other than my colleague, senior Member of Parliament and former Union Minister – my very good friend Thiru @RajivPratapRudy Just two hours ago, he and I were part of intense discussions at the Estimates Committee.”

Manan then wrote that his colleague’s transformation from a fiesty politician to a commercial pilot was surprising for him.

Applauding Rajiv Pratap Rudy’s gesture, the DMK leader asked users a question that how often does it happen that a sitting Member of Parliament captains a commercial flight.

Maran also thanked the BJP leader and pilot for flying him safe to his destination.

“I’m sure I will be talking about this for a long time.

Thank you Captain Rajiv Pratap Rudy, MP, for flying us safely from Delhi to Chennai!” he tweeted.

Rajiv Pratap Rudy, an Indian politician who represents the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, is also a commercial autopilot. He flies Airbus A320-321. In the 2003 cabinet, Rudy served as the Civil Aviation Minister. He was made Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in Narendra Modi‘s government in 2014.

This is Rudy’s fourth term as an MP in the Lok Sabha. He had also been elected twice to the upper house of the parliament.

Recently, Rajiv Pratap Rudy was severely crticised when media spotted 30 unused ambulances

at his Amnour Vishw-Prabha community center. This happened when the country was reeling with the second deadly wave of COVID-19 and a reported shortage of medical equipments and ambulances.
