The NFL has seen its fair share of fights over the years. The league offers stiff competition and sometimes, the temperature results in frustration from players, who opt to fight it out on the field rather than speaking about it later.

Ahead of the 2022-23 season, the NFL made headlines once again as a brawl took place between Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals players, during a joint training session. Rams’ defensive linebacker Aaron Donald was captured on video holding two Bengals helmets in his hands and swinging them at the opposition players.

Let’s take a look at some of the biggest field fights in the last decade in the NFL.

Myles Garrett vs Mason Rudolph in 2019 (Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns)

Similar to Donald’s antics on August 25, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett grabbed each other’s face mask in a game in 2019. Garrett also ripped off Rudoph’s helmet and hit him in the head with his own helmet.

It was at this time when Rudoph’s teammate and Steelers’ center Maurice Pouncey intervened and attacked Garett. Cleveland’s defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi decided to help his teammate by shoving Pouncey, before all players from both teams became involved in the brawl.

Garrett was handed a suspension after the game but was reinstated later. Meanwhile, players involved in the fight received a fine of more than $500,000.

Aqib Talib vs. Michael Crabtree in 2017 (Denver Broncos vs Oakland Raiders)

One of the most memorable years in the NFL in recent history. The duo already had a fight earlier in the year when Talib had ripped off Crabtree’s chain. When the duo faced each other later in the year in another game between Denver Bronchos and Oakland Raiders, they became involved in another fight.

Players from both sides were also involved in the tussle while Talib and Crabtree got into a fist fight. Talib grabbed and snatched Crabtree’s chain once again, before the pair was given marching orders from the field.

Both Talib and Crabtree were given two-game suspensions, which was later reduced to one match.

During a game between the Jaguars and the Bengals, Jalen Ramsey was pushed by wide receiver AJ Green and he retaliated soon by shoving the latter to the ground. Green got up and headlocked himself with Ramsey when players from both sides rushed to the scene.

The pair was ejected from the game but not before a brawl between the players. After the game, Ramsey claimed he got inside Green’s head while Green said he was defending himself and apologized for his behaviour.

Odell Beckham Jr vs Josh Norman in 2015 (New York Giants vs Carolina Panthers)

Giants’ wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr and Panthers’ cornerback Josh Norman’s matchup was being hyped in the media before the match. The duo exchanged heated words throughout the 2015 season and the tension reached its peak during the game.

Beckham rushed into Norman head first before the latter retaliated by putting a knee on his head. A referee stopped the fight before it escalated and the pair were not ejected. Following the game, both of them were fined while Beckham was also handed a suspension.
