Numerous seats were empty at the Al Bayat stadium on Saturday when France and England took on each other in the FIFA World Cup 2022 quarter-final on Saturday. The 2018 semi-finalists are meeting early on in the tournament with a place in the semis to fight for.

The empty seats in question are the most expensive seats at the AL Bayt stadium so it is a big question why those who have bought them did not come or sell their ticket to someone else.

France took an early lead in the match with a long-range goal from the midfielder Tchoumeni – the first of the tournament. 

England came close to scoring with their number nine and captain Harry Kane, but his Tottenham teammate French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris managed to stop him from scoring.

France managed to win the match in the end and continue their excellent run in the FIFA World Cup. They became the second team after Brazil in 1998 to reach the semis of the FIFA World Cup for two consecutive editions.

If they manage to reach the final by defeating Morocco, they will become the second team after Brazil to reach the World Cup final twice in a row. They will be meeting either Argentina or Croatia, who will play the first semi-final of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

England, on the other hand, continue to be the choker in the FIFA World Cup. They were knocked out by France in 2018 semi-final as well and the French curse lives on.
