Virat Kohli was seen questioning the umpire’s decision after being given out against Leicestershire in a warm-up game at Grace Road on Thursday. The Indian Test team, led by Rohit Sharma, is currently prepping for the one-off Test against Ben Stokes’ England. The match will take place in Edgbaston.

Kohli was left surprised when the on-field umpire found pacer Roman Walker’s delivery, on his pads, hitting the stumps. The former India captain was dismissed for a well-fought 33 off 69 balls.
In the 41st over, Virat Kohli failed to read Walker’s fuller length ball that went past his bat and into the wicketkeeper’s hands. The Indian batter looked relaxed as the Leicestershire players appealed. He was given out lbw. The 33-year-old was seen trying to have a conversation with the umpire but eventually walked off.

Kohli made 33 runs in 69 balls with the help of four boundaries and one maximum.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, India declared the innings at 246/8. Wicketkeeper Srikar Bharat impressed with an unbeaten 70, even as India’s top-order failed to get batting practice.

India’s top guns failed to fire as the visitors slipped to 81 for five. However, Bharat shone during his 158-minute stay in the middle before rain brought an early end to day 1’s proceedings.
In all, the 28-year-old batter from Andhra hit eight fours and a six while facing 111 balls. At stumps, Mohammed Shami was giving Bharat company on 18.

Skipper Rohit Sharma (25) and Shubman Gill (21) got out after getting starts. With five of their batters back in the hut, Kohli and wicketkeeper Bharat got together and added 57 runs to steady the ship.
Fast bolwer Umesh Yadav chipped in with 23 off 32 balls, hitting four boundaries in the process.
The Test match, rescheduled after it was abandoned owing to a COVID-19 outbreak last year, starts on July 1.
