Test captain Pat Cummins and opening batter David Warner have pulled out of the
limited-overs series against Pakistan, starting March 29 after the conclusion
of the three-match Test series. Australia will tour Pakistan in March-April for
the first time since 1998. The limited-overs series will be comprised of three
ODIs and one-off T20I.

Cummins
and Warner, however, made themselves available for the Test series which will
be played in Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore, respectively. The first Test will
be played in Rawalpindi from March 4. Micthell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan
Lyon have also been included in Australia’s squad for the Test series. But like
Cummins and Warner, the trio will also miss the limited-overs fixtures.

The
three ODIs and one-off will be played in Rawalpindi from March 29 to April 5.

T20
World Cup-winning captain Aaron Finch will lead a 16-man limited-overs squad
that includes Test players Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marnus Labuschagne and
Steve Smith.

“We
have picked a talented and versatile squad with a number of challenges to
juggle,” national selector George Bailey said in a statement.

“(That
includes) the tour structure of predominantly 50 over games, management of
several multi-format players in the medium to long term, and our need to build
experience and depth in preparation for two short-form World Cups within the
next 18 months.

“We’re
confident the squad can both compete successfully on this tour and continue our
progress towards those crucial tournaments.”

The
last time when Australia toured Pakistan in 1998, they won the Test series 1-0 and
ODI series 3-0.

During
the 2018-19 series, when both sides faced each other in the UAE, Pakistan won
the Test series 1-0.
