The Chiefs dominated the Bears from the outset of their Week 3 matchup, amassing a commanding 34-0 lead by halftime, much to the delight of the Arrowhead Stadium crowd. However, just before the halftime break, there was a cause for concern as quarterback Patrick Mahomes sustained a right ankle injury. Thankfully, Mahomes returned to the field at the start of the second half without displaying any noticeable signs of a significant limp.

It’s worth noting that Mahomes had previously played through a high-ankle sprain during a significant portion of the 2022 playoffs. Despite Kansas City being up by 31 points late in the second quarter, Mahomes remained on the field. Unfortunately, during a pass play, Bears defensive end Yannick Ngakoue rolled over the same ankle, resulting in Mahomes exhibiting a noticeable limp. He continued to stay under center for the remaining moments of the first half, although he appeared somewhat limited in his mobility within the pocket during his final throw. Mahomes, visibly frustrated, shook his head as he exited the field.

Prior to sustaining the injury, Mahomes had been nearly flawless, completing 15 of 20 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns, effectively guiding the Chiefs to a remarkable 34-point lead. This halftime advantage marked the largest of his career up to that point.
