“Did the Eagles celebrate their touchdown by robbing from the Salvation Army kettle?,” one fan asked on Twitter as it seemed unbelievable that Smith would pull of such a stunt.

“Stealing gifts from the Salvation Army makes officially makes Devonta Smith a Philly scumbag,” said another fan.

However, most fans were just left stunned by Smith’s touchdown and it’s incredible quality. At the other’s surprise, one fan took the time out to point out Smith’s history.

“At what point are people going to remember that Smith is a Heisman trophy winner, a top 10 pick, and has a wide receiving route running PHD… Here it goes: Smith on your 3 corner is a mismatch!” the fan said.

“Having DeVonta Smith as your second wide receiver is just not fair for the rest of the league,” said another.

Another fan rightly pointed out how brilliant Devonta Smith’s NFL season is turning out to be.

“DeVonta Smith only needs 99 yards in the next three games for a 1000-yard season,” the fan said on Twitter.

Smith was chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles, who had moved up two spots to take him, with the tenth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. After Ja’Marr Chase and Jaylen Waddle, he was selected as the third wide receiver overall in the draught.

Smith missed the draught despite having strong college stats because of doubts about his raw measurables and the fact that his frame was deemed too small to withstand playing in the NFL.

On June 3, 2021, he agreed to a $20.1 million, four-year rookie deal with the Eagles.
