Cook, who just turned 28 years old, had signed a contract with the Jets on Monday that had terms that may have a total value of $8.6 million. Four times chosen for the Pro Bowl, the player was released by the Vikings on June 8 as part of their efforts to control salary limit costs.

Cook was able to see the majority of the Buccaneers’ team drills after arriving at the Jets’ facility. He spoke to several of his new teammates during this time, who welcomed him into the team with open arms.

But it’s anticipated that Cook won’t join the Jets for practice until at least sometime next week. His upcoming fatherhood—he is due any day now—is the cause of this delay.

Jets QB Aaron Rodgers in a statement after the signing said, “Dalvin has got it done for a long time at a high level, he’s motivated, he wants to win a championship. Obviously, he made it well known to me during the process he wanted to play with me and play here, in Jersey, so we’re excited to have him, excited to get him in here.”

Coach Robert Saleh also said, “He’s going to integrate himself in the meetings, acclimate himself to the building. I do believe he is going to go home over the weekend, they are having their baby, which is awesome for him. And then he will be back the following week.”
